My whole life has been one big vacation, so on this page of my site, you might see photos of Germany where I spent so many years with the Army, or of West Virginia where I search for my roots, or of the many other places I have visited around the world. The photo above is of Bertchesgaden, Germany, which if forced to choose one, I would call my favorite place on earth. |  |

Many of my "vacations" when I was young involved backpacking trips into the "high lakes," so called because they were high in the hills surrounding Mount Saint Helens. The one shown in this photo is Panhandle Lake. Getting there involved a 9 mile hike starting at Spirit Lake, past Harmony Falls, over Norway Pass, and Bear Pass, and skirting by Grizzly, Obscurity, and Boot Lakes. All of these lakes were full of fish, and rarely visited. Today, they are all in the blast zone of Mt. St. Helen's 1980 eruption. Even so, they are still beautiful, and I will be showing you more photos, both old and recent, as I build my site.
